Co-Founder, Head of Korean Relations & Cultural Strategy
Rockhee holds a PhD in theoretical astronomy with a specialization in cosmology. Her academic background gave her a deep understanding of the universe and our existence within it. In 2012, she shifted from science to entrepreneurship and now runs an agency that connects businesses.
Though her career path changed, her curiosity about the universe and life remained central. Minhwa, for Rockhee, has become a way to express her understanding of the world, the universe, and our being. Through the vibrant symbolism and traditional themes of this Korean folk art, she explores and conveys the big questions she once approached through science. Minhwa serves as a creative outlet for her reflections on existence.
At the Minhwa Association, Rockhee is a key motivator, driving the team while building essential connections with Korean artisans and suppliers to ensure authentic Minhwa practices in Sweden. Her vision fosters cultural exchange and deeper understanding, ensuring Minhwa remains vibrant and bridges traditional Korean art with modern expression in Europe.

On our Minhwa Association website, we proudly use the Japsang figure as our logo, drawing inspiration from its historical role as a guardian against evil spirits on traditional Korean rooftops.
The Japsang represents not only protection but also the creative spirit of Korean cultural heritage. Its playful and exaggerated features, often depicting animals, resonate with the imaginative and vibrant nature of Minhwa art.
This symbol embodies our commitment to preserving and celebrating traditional Korean art forms.
